Biochemica Group Ltd Acquires Effective Project Management Ltd (EPM Ltd) to Expand Business in Scotland

Biochemica Group Ltd has acquired Effective Project Management Ltd (EPM Ltd) of East Kilbride, Scotland, increasing the groups market share in water treatment services. EPM Ltd will sit alongside Biochemica Water Ltd, the largest independently owned water treatment company in the North East of England, and Biochemica Water NI Ltd.

EPM Ltd, a privately-owned company established in 1995, provide a total water treatment service based on speciality chemicals, equipment, consultancy and technical support to public, commercial and industrial customers. They will bring their expertise in legionella control along with their excellent customer base to Biochemica Group, increasing the groups market share in Scotland.

As part of the deal, Biochemica Group will strengthen the management structure in East Kilbride, which will continue to operate as EPM Ltd. Joe Murphy has joined the company as General Manager (Scotland).

For Biochemica Group, the deal represents an excellent opportunity to further expand their water business, which won the NEPIC SME of the Year award in January 2018. After reporting significant growth in revenue in 2017, Biochemica Group always had expansion on its horizon. “As part of our three-year growth plan, acquisition is key to the significant growth we are forecasting by 2021” said Dave Ruddy, CEO of Biochemica Water. “When the opportunity to acquire EPM Ltd came to us, it was an easy decision for us to pursue the opportunity.”

Biochemica Group already has a strong foothold in the UK water treatment industry, with customers in England, Wales, Northern Ireland as well as Scotland, but it was the well-established customer base of EPM Ltd which sparked Dave’s interest. “We already have a presence in Scotland and it wasn’t inconceivable that we could have set up our own office there. But EPM Ltd is already an established company which has been in operation since 1995 and their customer base is fantastic, it’s for that reason that we decided to acquire them.”

EPM Ltd joint shareholder and founder director Kenny Ritchie believes the takeover by Biochemica Group will benefit the company significantly. “We believe working with such a sizeable company with the integration of Biochemica’s high quality processes and systems, as well as the backing of a workforce of over 70 people will benefit the customers and stakeholders of EPM Ltd. We will continue to provide our customers with the same top-quality service and we look forward to a successful future under the Biochemica Group of companies.”
